Services are provided to individuals who are newly diagnosed or have had diabetes for a number of years.
A consultation with Adam will provide you with individualised education and support that
aims to help you understand your treatment options and manage your own care on a day to
day basis.
While everyone’s needs are different, important components of education and support
include:
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is a device that allows an individual’s glucose levels
to be monitored day and night. CGM provides insight into patterns and trends in glucose
levels, and can prevent or reduce the frequency of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia.
Adam is experienced in CGM, and will use the patterns and trends in glucose levels to guide
decision making relating to your treatment as well as the education and support provided.
An insulin pump is a small battery-operated device that is programmed to deliver a precise
amount of insulin into the body therefore replacing the need for frequent injections. Insulin
is delivered through thin tubing known as the infusion set with additional insulin being
delivered on demand to account for particular circumstances such as an upcoming meal or
to correct high glucose levels.
There are several insulin pumps available in Australia for people living with diabetes. Adam
can provide you with evidence-based information and advice about what is involved and
whether this is a recommended treatment option for you.
